Romeo K est un artiste qui s’est forgé dans l’underground parisien, loin des projecteurs, avec humilité et détermination. Ses premiers pas se font dans les cafés-concerts et les petites salles de région parisienne et province, avant que sa voix et son énergie ne l’amènent sur les scènes emblématiques de la capitale, comme le Batofar, le New Morning ou encore la Bellevilloise. Toujours entouré de musiciens de talent, il franchit une première étape en 2015 avec la sortie de son EP « Trust ». L’année suivante, il fonde son propre groupe, The Mystik Warriors, en s’appuyant sur la direction artistique de Moctar Wurie. Musicien et arrangeur hors pair qui évolue depuis plus de vingt ans aux côtés de figures majeures du reggae comme The Abyssinians, Horace Andy, Ijahman Levi, Mighty Diamonds, Linval Thompson, Clinton Fearon, Anthony B pour n’en citer que quelques-uns. Son expérience et sa vision musicale donnent une profondeur unique au son de Romeo K & The Mystik Warriors. L’album rassemble également de grands musiciens de la scène reggae internationale. On y retrouve le guitariste Kubix, incontournable compagnon de route de la crème du reggae mondial, ainsi que Richacha, batteur de haut standing ayant accompagné le groupe The Wailers, lequel signe toutes les batteries de l’opus et apporte une puissance rythmique d’exception. Depuis plus de dix ans, Romeo K et son groupe partagent la scène avec les grandes figures de la musique jamaïcaine : The Twinkle Brothers, Lee Scratch Perry, Ijahman Levy, Linval Thompson, The Gladiators, Winston Jarrett, Cedric Myton, Al Campbell… autant de rencontres qui nourrissent sa musique et confirment sa place dans le paysage reggae hexagonal. Ses amis de longue date, comme Linval Thompson, Norman Grant des Twinkle Brothers, Cedric Myton, Mad Professor …ou encore Mutabaruka, ne se sont pas contentés de le soutenir : ils l’ont encouragé, conseillé et motivé à franchir un cap, à réaliser un véritable album, en l’accompagnant parfois jusque dans la production de ses chansons. C’est ainsi qu’en 2024, après quatre années de travail acharné, naît l’album « Victory History » (sortie le 31 octobre 2025).
Réalisé et co-produit par Romeo K et la légende Mad Professor, sous la direction artistique de Moctar Wurie, cet opus marque un tournant décisif dans la carrière de Roméo K. Plus qu’un disque, c’est une œuvre de maturité, enregistrée entre Paris (Dub Factory) et Londres (Ariwa Studio), puis mixée par Mad Professor lui-même. Cet album réunit la puissance du live des Mystik Warriors et l’exigence d’une production internationale. La dimension de l’album est confirmée dès son ouverture : le poète jamaïcain Mutabaruka, figure incontournable et légendaire, signe une introduction unique, au texte inspiré des titres des chansons de l’album. D’autres invités prestigieux enrichissent également « Victory History » comme Linval Thompson sur Free Mind, ou encore Norman Grant (The Twinkle Brothers) sur Chant Jamaica dont le clip souligne la portée internationale du projet.
Romeo K is an artist who emerged from the Parisian underground scene, far from the spotlight, with humility and determination. His first steps took place in cafés and small concert venues in the Paris region and across the provinces, before his voice and energy brought him to emblematic stages of the capital such as the Batofar, the New Morning, and La Bellevilloise. Always surrounded by talented musicians, he reached a first milestone in 2015 with the release of his EP TRUST. The following year, he founded his own band, The Mystik Warriors, under the artistic direction of Wurie Moctar. A remarkable musician and arranger, Wurie Moctar has been performing for over twenty years alongside major reggae figures such as The Abyssinians, Horace Andy, Ijahman Levi, Mighty Diamonds, Linval Thompson, Clinton Fearon, Anthony B, and many more. His experience and musical vision bring a unique depth to the sound of Romeo K & The Mystik Warriors. The album also brings together great musicians from the international reggae scene. Among them are Kubix, the iconic guitarist who has long been a companion to the crème de la crème of reggae, as well as Richacha, the world-class drummer who has played with the legendary band The Wailers, lending his powerful drumming to the opus and giving it exceptional rhythmic strength. For over ten years, Romeo K and his band have shared the stage with the great names of Jamaican music: The Twinkle Brothers, Lee Scratch Perry, Ijahman Levi, Linval Thompson, The Gladiators, Winston Jarrett, Cedric Myton, Al Campbell… so many encounters that have nourished his music and confirmed his place within the French reggae landscape. His longtime friends, such as Linval Thompson, Norman Grant of The Twinkle Brothers, Cedric Myton, Mad Professor, and even Mutabaruka, have not only supported him but also encouraged, advised, and motivated him to take a step forward and create a true album—sometimes even accompanying him through the production process. Thus, in 2024, after four years of hard work, the album Victory History was born.
